Eric & Steven
We’re Eric and Steven and becoming dads through adoption is something we’ve looked forward to since early in our relationship. With Steven staying home and Eric working from home, we’re excited to be there for all the little things, from bedtime stories and family traditions to celebrating milestones and simply being there when our child needs us. Above all, we hope to raise a child who feels loved, supported, and free to be exactly who they are.
Our Favorite Vacation Spot

It's hard for us to choose just one favorite vacation spot because we love discovering new places. We've visited 16 countries, including Greece, Scotland, Taiwan, and Japan, and enjoy exploring new neighborhoods, trying local restaurants, and experiencing different cultures.

Eric especially enjoys the excitement of big cities, while Steven loves discovering local food and experiencing what makes each destination unique.
We hope to share that curiosity with our child, whether we're taking a family trip, trying food from another culture, or exploring somewhere new close to home. We'd love to see the world through their eyes, discover what interests them, and encourage them to approach new experiences with an open mind.
Our Leisure Time

Steven has a love of baking. Since he was a child he spent Sunday mornings with his grandpa making corn muffins and eating them together with syrup. From his mom he learned to make a family cheesecake recipe. Every year on his sisters and his birthday she would make a delicious homemade cake. Teaching our own child how to bake and making them treats is something Steven is looking forward to. Steven also enjoys spending time with friends and family, going hiking, and trying new restaurants. He has a love of reading fiction novels and can't wait to read to his future child.

Stevens's parents also love camping, so during the summer months we all head down to the beach when we feel up to it, and spend lazy days at their campsite. Their trailer is only a few minutes' walk to the beach so our future child will have lots of time to spend playing outdoors in the summer.
Eric loves going into the city. Since we live in New England we are close to both Boston, and New York City. When we feel like a more urban outing we'll head to the city for a weekend. You can usually find us shopping, or watching a Broadway play. We want our future child to have multicultural experiences and we think that frequent cities visits are a fun way to break up the more laid back suburban living that we'll have regularly.
Qualities We Admire in Each Other

Steven About Eric: Eric is the most goal orientated person I have met. He is consistently achieving something, whether it be a new job or a work promotion. He inspires me to work harder. He also has a sense of adventure that keeps him active and on the go in his personal life. When he was in his teens, after graduating high school he decided to postpone college and instead spent two years backpacking across Australia. These ended up being some of his most favorite memories, and it benefited him more than sitting in a classroom would have at the time.
Eric About Steven: Steven is empathetic and has a more go with the flow attitude and is able to relax me when I get stressed. He's always willing to listen to me talk about my day to day work problems and is a comforting person. He's a goofy guy that keeps me grounded, and makes me laugh.

Our House and Neighborhood

We currently live in a bright, cozy two-story apartment in a welcoming community in Connecticut. Our living room is one of our favorite places to relax, watch movies, and play board games. Our home also has personal touches from our travels and family, reflecting the life we've built together.
There's plenty to enjoy in our neighborhood. A park within walking distance has a playground, splash pad, and open fields. During the warmer months, our town also hosts outdoor concerts, food festivals, and a farmers’ market. We appreciate having places nearby where families can spend time outdoors and enjoy community activities.
As our family grows, we plan to buy a house where we can settle in for the long term. We're excited about finding a home with room for our child to play, explore, and grow, as well as space to welcome relatives and friends. We look forward to the everyday memories that make a house feel like home, from family meals and birthdays to holiday gatherings and quiet evenings together.
Our Extended Families

Family is a big part of both of our lives. Our gatherings are usually filled with conversation, laughter, homemade food, and games. We enjoy catching up with relatives, celebrating special occasions, and simply spending time together.
One of our favorite traditions is making dumplings with our family for Chinese New Year. Christmas is another highlight, with shared meals, games, karaoke, and plenty of conversation. These traditions have given us wonderful memories over the years, and we look forward to sharing them with our child while creating new family traditions of our own. Steven's parents live nearby, so we often get together for dinner or take walks with Yusuke. Steven's sister and her husband welcomed a baby girl in Fall 2026, and we're so excited to be Uncles. We hope our child and their cousin will grow up together, sharing holidays, playdates, family outings, and childhood memories. It would be wonderful for them to have each other in their lives from an early age.

Eric’s family lives in both the United States and Taiwan, and we stay close through video calls and visits. We’re excited to share Eric’s Taiwanese heritage with our child, from family traditions and favorite foods to learning the language. Our relatives are already joking about who will get to teach the baby Chinese first!

From Us to You

Dear Expectant Parent,
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We’re grateful for the opportunity to share a little about our lives and the family we hope to build. We recognize that considering adoption is a deeply personal decision, and we want to approach you and your child’s story with care and respect.
We’ve built our life together by learning how to listen to one another, work through challenges, and make room for each other’s needs and goals. We know parenting will bring new experiences and unexpected challenges, and we’re ready to learn as we go. We’ll approach those moments as a team, keeping the child’s well-being at the center of the decisions we make.
Steven plans to be a stay-at-home dad while Eric continues working from home. We’re looking forward to the everyday parts of raising a child: preparing meals, reading bedtime stories, helping with schoolwork, going on outings, and being there when they need comfort or encouragement. We know that the little moments, repeated day after day, will be an important part of building a close relationship.
We want the child we raise to feel comfortable telling us what’s on their mind, even when something is difficult to talk about. We’ll do our best to listen, take their feelings seriously, and help them navigate challenges as they grow. We also want to give them the freedom to develop their own personality, interests, and dreams. We may introduce them to things we enjoy, but we’re just as excited to discover the things that make them uniquely themselves. We will show them all the good the world has to offer, while also preparing them to confidently face the worst of it.
We understand that adoption will always be part of their story. We want them to grow up knowing that their background matters and that they can ask questions about their adoption whenever they need to. We would welcome the opportunity to share letters and pictures with you as they grow, and we’re open to discussing ongoing contact in a way that respects everyone’s needs and wishes.
When we imagine our future as dads, we think about the big milestones, but we also think about the little things: making breakfast together, laughing at silly jokes, reading a favorite story for the hundredth time, and watching their interests and personality develop. We look forward to getting to know them as they grow and finding out what makes them laugh, what they’re passionate about, and what kind of person they want to become.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about us and consider our family. We know this decision is yours to make, and we respect your wishes as you consider what feels right for you and your child. We hope you have people around you who listen to you, support you, and give you the space to make the decisions that are best for you.
With love and respect,
Eric & Steven
